RankParse vs Screpy
Investigate competitor links or monitor a site over time.
Compare RankParse and Screpy for competitor links, site monitoring and AI research. Understand project restrictions, backlink access and where each fits.
RankParse vs Screpy
Compare the tools behind your next SEO decision.
Start with the question you need answered.
Choose by the work you need to do.
Choose RankParse for exploratory domain comparisons and selected public-page checks without first creating a monitoring project. Choose Screpy when ongoing crawls, rankings, Core Web Vitals, uptime and AI visibility belong in one project. Screpy documents both backlink REST endpoints and MCP tools; its backlink API works with a project domain or an added competitor, subject to plan access.
Choose RankParse when…
- You are still deciding which domains are genuine competitors and want to investigate a bounded set before configuring monitoring.
- You need a short referring-domain or link-gap brief from Claude or ChatGPT, paid for as occasional research.
- You can work with a periodic link snapshot and will inspect current source pages before making a recommendation.
Choose Screpy when…
- You want continuing site monitoring with crawl records, ranking changes, page-experience signals and uptime.
- You already maintain projects and added competitors, and need to investigate their recorded backlink data and history.
- You need documented lost or broken project backlink reports rather than a snapshot-based prospecting sample.
Practical reasons to put it on your shortlist.
Start with the capabilities that serve your task. A useful strength does not have to be exclusive to one provider.
Explore domains before choosing a project
RankParse accepts bare domains for its documented research endpoints. Use that to investigate a small set of possible competitors before deciding which deserve ongoing monitoring. This suits exploratory work; it does not establish that the snapshot has comprehensive coverage of every domain you submit.
Review domain researchMove from a gap to an actionable page
A link-gap shortlist can lead to a destination-page decision. Inspect a current public URL to see whether its title, headings, canonical and robots metadata support the intended use. Then record a concrete action: review the source, repair the destination or reject the candidate.

Prepaid, non-expiring research credits can fit a one-off client question. Screpy’s subscription has a different purpose: maintaining continuing project data and monitoring. Compare that ongoing benefit with your requirements instead of treating a handful of lookups as equivalent to a monitoring service.

Different data. Different strengths.
Scope and limitations matter more than a row of checkmarks. Compare what each source can support.
| Your requirement | RankParse | Screpy |
|---|---|---|
| Backlinks and gaps | Backlinks, referring domains, competitor gaps and intersections for supplied domain queries. | REST reference includes project/competitor backlinks, referring domains, gap comparisons and history. |
| Which domains can be queried | Bare-domain research endpoints; no prior monitoring-project enrollment required for those API lookups. | Backlink targets must be the project domain or an added competitor. Add a new competitor in the dashboard first; arbitrary domains are not accepted. |
| API and assistant access | Documented REST, API-key MCP and a hosted 25-tool read-only OAuth connector. | Official REST API and MCP tool catalog include backlink and project workflows. Verify the plan and permissions for the dataset. |
| Ongoing technical monitoring | Live checks of selected public pages and sites; these are not equivalent to a continuous monitoring project. | Project crawls, rankings, uptime, Core Web Vitals and AI-visibility workflows are documented. |
| Lost/broken links and freshness | New/lost-link and velocity endpoints are unavailable placeholders. Link data comes from a periodic snapshot. | Lost/broken backlink reports are documented for the project’s own domain. Check the source record and history relevant to the question. |
| Output and access limits | Link lists are bounded without offset; gap results can be partial or unscored. | Backlink lists document cursor pagination up to 100 rows per page; exports cover the selected page. Backlink plan access is required. |
What do you need to pay for next?
Separate data usage, account access and assistant charges. An existing subscription can change your decision.
Prepaid research, no subscription
Start with 100 free credits. Paid credits never expire; the base purchase rate is $0.01 per credit, with volume tiers documented on the pricing page. Backlinks and referring domains cost 2 credits per call, or 3 with scoring. Competitor gap costs 5 and a live page SEO check costs 3.
Compare the complete investigation: domains sampled, required fields, page checks and any assistant subscription. Successful empty responses can still be billed. A small result cap controls scope; it does not make an incomplete dataset complete.
Check RankParse pricingA project-monitoring subscription
Screpy offers monthly and yearly subscriptions with project, crawl and tracking allowances. The pricing page reviewed on 19 October 2026 lists backlinks on Max and Ultra, while Pro excludes them. Do not present the entry plan as including every research dataset.
The fetched page prominently displays a time-limited welcome promotion and rounded monthly equivalents of annual totals. We have not verified a stable checkout quote for your account. Confirm billing interval, renewal amount, backlink entitlement and project limits before purchasing.

Separate exploration from monitoring
The products can serve consecutive stages of the same agency workflow.
Before the competitor set is settled
A client’s list of business rivals may differ from the domains competing in search. Use audience context and suitable search evidence to establish the set, then investigate links. RankParse makes a bounded domain query possible without first configuring each target as a project competitor. Missing snapshot data should remain an uncertainty, not a reason to dismiss the rival.
After the project is established
Screpy can keep monitoring records, crawl findings and project context together. Its API restrictions are part of that model rather than evidence that it lacks backlink data. If the project already contains the relevant competitors, reuse its documented reports before buying an additional research source.
Match the evidence to the time question
A current page fetch and a historical link observation answer different questions.
When a client asks what changed
Use dated monitoring records for a claim about lost links, crawl regressions or uptime. Screpy documents lost and broken backlink reports for the project domain. RankParse’s unavailable new/lost-link endpoints cannot answer when a link disappeared. Re-fetching an old snapshot does not turn it into a change log.
When a client asks what to do next
A focused RankParse prospect brief can be useful if it names the actual evidence, destination and unresolved questions. RankParse authority is not interchangeable with other vendor scores and should not decide relevance alone. Reject a high-scoring source when its readers have no reason to care about the destination.
A few things worth clarifying.
Does Screpy offer a backlinks API?
Yes. Its official reference documents backlink profiles, individual links, referring domains, gap comparisons and related reports. It requires eligible plan access, and research targets must be the project or an added competitor. This comparison does not claim otherwise.
Why use RankParse if Screpy already supports MCP?
MCP alone does not separate them. RankParse can suit an exploratory domain investigation without first enrolling each target in a monitoring project. Screpy is useful when the project and historical monitoring records are central. Confirm the returned fields and scope required for your question.
Are backlinks included in Screpy’s cheapest plan?
The pricing page reviewed on 19 October 2026 lists backlinks as excluded from Pro and included on Max and Ultra. Offers and plan details can change. Confirm the current plan card and checkout; do not use a promotional entry price as a full-feature quote.
Can RankParse tell me which links disappeared this week?
Not through its documented new/lost-link endpoints, which are placeholders. Its periodic snapshot can support prospect research but cannot establish a weekly change history. Use a product with the required monitoring evidence and verify the actual source page when the finding matters.
