Backlinks are links from other websites pointing at yours. Search engines treat each one as a vote of confidence — domains with more high-quality backlinks tend to rank higher. A free backlink checker lets you audit your own profile or scout a competitor's without buying an Ahrefs or Semrush subscription.
RankParse's data comes from Common Crawl, a non-profit web archive that indexes billions of pages every quarter. We process the raw crawl data into a queryable graph so you can pull every referring domain for any site in milliseconds — the same data Ahrefs and Moz use, served at edge speed.
How it works
Type any domain into the box above and submit. Within a second you'll see the total number of referring domains, a sample of backlinks with anchor text, and the link types (hyperlink, nofollow, sponsored, etc.) detected during the crawl.
Anonymous users get 5 free checks per day. Sign up free to bump that to 25/day. Need it programmatically? The same data is available via the REST API — first 100 credits free on signup, and credits never expire.
Frequently asked questions
- How many backlinks can I see?
- The free tool shows up to 100 referring domains and 100 sample backlinks per check. Sign up free for the same limits at 25 checks/day, or use the API for full unbounded results (up to 1000 per request).
- How fresh is the data?
- The current dataset is built from Common Crawl January–March 2026 (3 billion+ pages). New crawls ship every quarter.
- Why is some data missing?
- Common Crawl doesn't index every page on the web. Sites blocked by robots.txt, behind login walls, or with low link density may have sparse data. For exhaustive backlink discovery, combine RankParse with a live crawler.
- Can I check competitor backlinks?
- Yes — that's the whole point. Drop in any domain, public or competitor, to see what's linking to it. There's no rate limit on which domains you can query, only how many checks per day.
